Boat sank within 15 mins of the mayday being transmitted. I listened to it from my house last night. Call was actually before 6pm.

Does anyone know which submerged jetty it hit? I wonder why they hit the submerged jetty - did they not know it was there, or did they lose control?

They hit the South Jetty around 530 pm. Aprox. 80 yds. from the tip. CG rescued 4 people. Within ten minutes of the Mayday, they had approx. 3 feet of water in the hull. At the time of the incident, it was zero visibility. There is nothing left of it as of theis morning. I watched it break apart. Thank god the CG was there so quick and everyone is alright.

I was listening to the events unfold last night on my radio in the house. Sent shivers down my spine.
Found it a little strange that the vessel was communicating with US Coast Guard station Delaware Bay and not Barnegat Light.

Mark,

Sector Delaware Bay has oversight of Station Cape May, Townsends Inlet, Atlantic city, Barnegat Light, and Manasquan. The watchstanders in the station that the case is happening are scrambling around getting the info. from the radio and passing it on to the boat crews either by PA system or verbal face to face or both. Can be organized chaos. Needless to say they are busy with that as well as getting all the time info. on what is happening when for their case report. For each case there are a standard set of questions that will be asked. EVERY Station will ask the same questions for each particular case. Been through a few "bell ringers" over there to know crazy.LOL. Be safe.

The old south jetty (the submerged one)? Or was the news report wrong when it said they hit a "submerged" jetty? Thanks for the info!

Jeff, inside the inlet when it hit? Is there submerged structure there that we need to be aware of?
Also, that fog roll in??? seems wierd for that time of day.
