question on my blackfin here. the motors are yams ox66's. there is an actual wedge shaped zinc plate mounted between the motors and the transoms. bolts with the upper engine bracket bolts. it actually kicks a little trim into the motors because of the wedge shape. have you ever seen anything like this before? the motors where installed in fla. i was thinking its a fla. thing and not a blackfin/yammie thing. i need to get a pic i know. but to replace this thing you have to loosen the motors from the transom. that seems a little retarted to me. the motors have all the other standard zincs on them, thanks, george

that wedge is not a zinc,it gives a little more "negative" trim...keeps the wheels from breaking loose due to ventilation...use them all the time on contenders...do not replace them...

ox66's...good idea before you start running those engines is to remove and clean the o2 sensors, and the tubes...decarbing the engines will not do this...

On a Hydra Sports forum they talked about this using a wedge on the Walk arounds to help keep the Bow down.

tabs will work much better than the wedge on the engines...perhaps,the wedge they mentioned is a wedge put into the stern section of the boat

this is done on some older ocean yacht models, this will drop the bow consideribly-some of these older boats would squat excessivley...

I'll see if I can find the info but it was directed toward Bow high issues with max tab.

clicked it...those guys are talking about the same product...

another thing that really helps with stern heavy boats is to swap engines...run the engine with the props rotating "in" versus "out"...swap the counter rotating lower units on the yamaha engines, this swaps the prop rotation-props rotating in,this will increase stern lift...

That's intresting I had a similar problem at slow speeds, then I talked to Jersey Joe and then went to Eastern Prop and he hooked me up....this was last year. I was running 19 1/4 x 15 on twin Yammies and I think I'm some where around 16.5 and a little cupping now. I have to tell you the boat pops out of the water now and no bow issues at slow speeds also brought WOT right within oem range. Easier to controll on higher seas at lower speed. I also mentioned your name since Joe did the same thing.

you need to have a boat wheeled properly for best performance...if you weren't spinning the proper rpm before, and now you are,ol' pat whelen really set you up huh
pat and his son are good guys, they do excellent work !

yea the boat has tabs, big ones too, ive just never seen a zinc bolted between the top half of the motor brackets and the transom. like i said to replace these things you have to completely loosen the motor from the transom, i might head down there this weekend, i'll take a few pics. i'll hit ya up on pre-spring things a little later. after looking at that link, that exactly what i have. didnt know blackfins had a "bow up" attitude when running.
