Last year was my first year with my boat and I made the mistake of accepting a free used bumper from a friend. The reason that it was a mistake was that it was disintegrating. I now have rubber on my fiberglass and rub rail where the bumper hung last year. How should I remove the tacky rubber buildup without harming the fiberglass or rub rail surface? Thanks for the help

This is a common occurrence, when it happens to me, I just use any type boat wax or wax/cleaner combination (whatever's on hand) to remove the gummy substance.
With a little gentle elbow grease, plain wax will take off almost anything. Good luck,
Mark

I use either oxalic acid or acetone depending on how tough the stain is. In either case be sure to wash the chemicals off well and then re-wax or re-polish the affected areas as either will strip any wax or polish.

3M makes an adhesive remover that works wonders on glues and caulks. It will even break down 5200. We carry it in a spray can or quart can.

That is good to know, I went a little 5200 crazy before I knew any better. But at least I don't have any leaks!

Is that the anti-bond? I stopped in a few weeks ago looking for it and the kid working had no idea what I was talking about. I ended picking it up @ BW.

No it's called 3M Adhesive Remover and it comes in a red can.
