Description
Putting three seasoned kayak fisherman on a motorized boat with an arsenal of terminal gear and premium bait from Lacey Marine may not be fair to large flatfish.

Had the pleasure of fishing with "Kayak Dan" and “Foots Fuller" over the weekend. The result was heavy casualties to the population of large flatfish in the bay. Four fish over 6 lbs were landed (largest going 7.57 lbs) and another four fish in the 4 lb to 4.5 lb range found the bottom of the net (weekend total). The dazzling array of jigs, multi colored and multi shaped gulp and premium frozen baits from Lacey Marine had the fluke waving a white flag. Dan showed some early signs of suffering from Kayak withdrawl when first boarding the motorized vessel but he finished strong. Be sure to ask him about his last second buzzer beater next time you stop by the shop. Just a few pictures…

Great catch John! Did Dan spend the entire day sitting in a kayak position? I don't think he can walk on a boat.

Paul - No Joking... Dan nearly fell out (or was knocked out) of the boat at least twice (that I saw). He likes to perch high on the gunnels and I wasn't always smooth when bumping engines in and out of gear.

You should start writing John! Thanks for having us. It was different from the yak but I still love the boat. Thanks to Rick too for helping clean the fish.

I spent the day watching John and Chris catch keepers while I was just putting short after short in the boat (tagged and released). My watch beeped at 3pm and I said "I can't believe it's 3" John says "oh its that late. let's head in" Oh wait, got a bump, set the hook, 23" flattie in the boat. It was like shooting a 3 pointer to win the game at the buzzer. Beautiful day on the boat!

John

That's a great day even with Dan's handicap. Dan there should be credit given in clearing out the shorts so the others could land the keepers- just like assists in hockey. Should consider it as an award category for the club. Ed

Great catch John and Dan. Way to go with all of those big flatties.

It was a fun day for sure. Dans last second hook up couldn't have been timed any better.
