I'll bet the kids had a blast. They are fun to catch.

We call them Blowfish.....but you are right their real name is Northern Pufferfish. They ARE NOT Poisonous!...unlike their distant relative the Pacific Puffer, which IS Poisonous!

Don't eat the "Liver or " Roe" in a Blowfish (Northern Pufferfish) Not that anyone is but you never can tell...It is said by scientist to be poisoness...I never heard of anyone getting sick from "Chicken of the Sea" (Blowfish)....but maybe they will get sick because they just can't eat fish...

And just to clarify the toxicity of puffer fish, according to US Food and Drug Administration, Center for Food Safety & Applied Nutrition (FDA-CFSAN, http://vm.cfsan.fda.gov/~mow/chap39.html) poisonings from the puffer toxin, a.k.a. tetrodotoxin, have been almost exclusively associated with the consumption of puffer fish from waters of the Indo-Pacific ocean regions, there have been no confirmed cases of poisoning from the Atlantic puffer fish. Other remote species of the family Tetradontidae which includes many species of puffers that are notably toxic, such as the Japanese torafugu (fugu rubripes), should be avoided.

Frying will not kill chemical toxins..The fish we catch are safe. Rich
