Description
Had to go past the bathing beach to find activity, finnally stumbled on some spike weakfish that we jigged up for a little while. While reeling in one it was hit by a 38inch 20lb bass. That was the only fish of the day.

i was using a deadly dick w/ a sand eel teaser, they were very thick w/ birds playing all around. I definately didnt think i was pulling a bass out of a school of weakies.

so let me get this straight billyt. are you coming right out and saying that you used a short weakie as striper bait? anyone have the # for fish and game? pirates like billyt are not welcome on this website!! just kidding of course... nice catch! its funny u got one that way because on saturday i said over and over again that if the bass were here they would be picking off a few of these weakies that everyone and their mother was reeling in. hey if u wanna get together and go fish for some out of season seabass, maybe we can keep the small ones alive and live line em for bass...whatya say? just kidding again of course.

The funny thing is that when i fished down in florida they used undersized seabass as grouper bait. This makes no sence to me.How can they be leagal to use as bait but illegal to keep as dinner?

sounds like it is time to snag weakies on treble hooks and let them go to the bottom. smile

Nice fish.

Nice catch! While we were bailing those spikes on Saturday, I was also wondering why nothing, not even blues, was on them.
