Caught a new species while in Baja Mexico (north end of Sea of Cortez) region over the weekend.

Had heard tales of "white sea bass" also known as "white weakfish" when I lived in San Diego. Finally caught one in Puerto Penasco. Had the same body type as a NJ weakfish and the same fangs.

Researched further and found the current sport angling record is a 78-pound fish caught in Monterey Bay on April 4, 2002.

Pictures have been posted to show similarities with our weakfish.
It basically looked like an all silver weakfish (no spots or iridescent purple color or yellow fins) that can grow to gigantic proportions.

The third picture is a large specimen caught by my neighbor earlier in March of this year.
