Broke BI around 530AM and made our way south. Stopped on some life and marks about 2 miles short of our intended destination. Had the way way back Sterling chain get hit but didn't come tight, fish bit the bally in half. Picked up and ran to the fleet and had some life but not a lot. Talked to Capt. Butch on the radio and he helped us out so we made the small move towards him. Lines in and we trolled around for a few minutes and worked a concentration of birds. The screen lit up and both Sterling wide trackers, the way back chain, a flat line, and middle spreader bar get nailed. Made short work of a couple falsies, pulling the hook on one fish, and dad brought a nice 37" Yellowfin to the boat on the way back Shute chain. Our first YFT on the boat!
Worked the area for a little while longer and kept getting covered up by falsies. They were big!
My cousin flew in from Boston to fish with us and he had to be back at the airport by 330pm that day so we pulled the lines in around 11am and had a quick 30 knot cruise back to the dock.
Definitely a fun day with not a lot of time but at least we had some sushi on the boat!
Also, cut up the falsies (Grandma and Grandpa love them on the grill) and one had a stomach filled with rocks and shells! Never seen that before. Must've been really hungry
