Fall Bass Tourney Q & A Thread - 10/09/09 02:18 PM

Just in case anyone has any questions, post them here.

One question that has come up so far...is the tournament open to non-members. Yes it is. We do encourage that non-members join Barnegat Fishin' Hole but it is not a requirement.

In reading the rules... it seems that you must fish from a boat. Can someone enter and fish the Surf or Jetty ?

Re: Fall Bass Tourney Q & A Thread - 10/09/09 07:58 PM

Sorry this tournament is boat only format with weigh-in by boat. In the future we will definitely have other tournaments that will include beach, jetty or kayak anglers.

Re: Fall Bass Tourney Q & A Thread - 10/09/09 11:59 PM

I am going to ask a few questions, some do not pertain to me but I figured I would ask for all of us to benefit. Please keep in mind I am NOT trying to play 'stump the teacher.'
1. Is there a limit we are restricted to? In other words can I run out of Barnegat Inlet and run to Shrewsbury Rocks as long as I'm back by 3pm?

2. Can we fish Friday the 6th during the day or does the tournament start immediately after the captains meeting. Or do we only fish on Saturday?

3. Will there be room at Sun Harbor for us to tie up on Saturday? For the record, Joe at Sun Harbor made tons of room for us during the last BFH tournament I entered.

4. I cannot commit at this point, but how can we BFH members help out?

Re: Fall Bass Tourney Q & A Thread - 10/10/09 08:02 AM

1. There are no boundaries. But you must adhere to NJ and Federal regulations.

2. Tournament starts as soon as the Captains' Meeting is over.

3. I will let the other Joe answer that but I believe so.

4. You could let other fishing friends know about the tournament and web site. I could also use some help (2-3 members) to help setup before the Captain's Meeting and clean up after the weigh-ins. PM me with your contact info and I will contact you a week before the tournament.

JJ,
Weigh in by boat only? I am from Long Key marina. can I dock at long key in Waretopwn and run my fish down for weigh in by truck?
I'm not familiar with that Marina by water.

Re: Fall Bass Tourney Q & A Thread - 10/11/09 07:25 AM

Same Thought here, would like to dock first at key harbor in my slip first then run down to weigh in by truck. The main reason is that i have a single screw boat that is not easy to dock in a tight space.

Re: Fall Bass Tourney Q & A Thread - 10/12/09 08:16 AM

For this particular tournament it will be weigh-in by boat only. Sun Harbor is very easy to get to, I forget the bearing from the 42 buoy, I believe it is 230, but will verify that with Joe. Then you just follow the channel around past the Barnegat Municipal Ramp. Docking will be very easy, there is a large gas dock out front of Sun Harbor which is where their scale is.

Re: Fall Bass Tourney Q & A Thread - 10/12/09 08:49 PM

Dave, From the 42 ICW marker you head southwest toward the condos. The channel to sun harbor starts at the condos. Your chartplotter should show the Barnegat Municipal ramp. Sun Harbor is just past the ramp.

Re: Fall Bass Tourney Q & A Thread - 10/12/09 08:55 PM

I bumped up an old chart that was posted a few years ago. Check it out to find Sun Harbor

Re: Fall Bass Tourney Q & A Thread - 10/12/09 08:59 PM

Thanks Jeff, forgot that pic was still around. I believe the one on the top of the triangle of icons is the one for Sun Harbor. But like Jeff said, you pass the municipal ramp, then a set of condos and then you have Sun Harbor on your right.

Here is the Bing link that shows the overhead detail of Sun Harbor.

www.bing.com/maps/default.aspx?encType=1&where1=451+E+Bay+Ave%2c+Barnegat%2c+NJ+08005-2476&FORM=MIRE

You'll have to copy and paste the link. You can either click the overhead tab or use the bird's eye tab to see the details of the dock and channels leading to Sun Harbor. If you use the bird's eye tab, you will be able to see the docking area very clearly.

Is the reception immediately after the weigh-in at 3? Or is there time to go home, clean up and drive back?
Posted by: Jersey Joe

Re: Fall Bass Tourney Q & A Thread - 10/22/09 10:54 AM

The reception will start between 3 and 3:30. The weigh-in starts at noon, so if you weigh in early you will have plenty of time to get back. There will be food, more door prizes and the awards will be given out.

Joe,

Do you have to have the application and fee in before the captain's meeting or can we pay at the captains meeting?

No, you can sign up at the Captains' Meeting.

Re: Fall Bass Tourney Q & A Thread - 11/02/09 06:46 PM

Is it ok if we drive to the captains meeting - we don't need to go by boat, correct? Just for the weigh in, correct? Thanks.
Posted by: Jersey Joe

Re: Fall Bass Tourney Q & A Thread - 11/02/09 08:55 PM

Correct just the weigh-in is by boat.

IS THERE ANY WAY OF ENTERING WITHOUT BEING AT THE MEETING. I DONT CLOSE MY SHOP TILL 6-6:30. IAM IN TRENTON. I HAVE NO WAY TO GET THERE IN TIME
Posted by: Jersey Joe

Re: Fall Bass Tourney Q & A Thread - 11/03/09 02:34 PM

You can enter by mail or have a member of your crew enter at the Captain's Meeting. If entering by mail one member of your crew will have to be present at the Captain's Meeting to check-in and receive the Captain's Bag.

Re: Fall Bass Tourney Q & A Thread - 11/03/09 02:44 PM

I CANT SEEM TO GET ANYONE THERE FRIDAY NITE
Posted by: Jersey Joe

Re: Fall Bass Tourney Q & A Thread - 11/03/09 03:30 PM

Capt. Paul, at least one representative from each boat entered must attend the Captains’ Meeting. In the future we will have contests where there is no Captains’ Meeting and you will enter by mailing in your entry form and entry fee and then weigh-in at specified weigh stations. Sorry about that.

Re: Fall Bass Tourney Q & A Thread - 11/03/09 03:36 PM

I'll get someone there somehow. Thanx.

What is the boat/fisherman count as of today? I did not see an answer to Shawn's post.

You can check the Entrant List thread for a complete list of entries that we have received so far. I do not have total number of crew listed but last time I added it up it was about 75 participants.

Just talked to Larry, he is planning on coming out to the after party and awards ceremony on Saturday. clapping

We will also have additional door prizes to give away at the after party.

Both the Captains' Meeting and After Party will be indoors at the restaurant at SHBC.

I would stay away from there as well. One of our dealers from PA stayed there and the towels were dirty and the ceiling tioles were falling down.

What time do you expect the Captain's Meeting to be over? Trying to make dinner plans with the Commandant.
Posted by: Jersey Joe

Re: Fall Bass Tourney Q & A Thread - 11/06/09 11:55 AM

7:30-8:00. Just have to go over a couple of rules quickly (all of which are on the entry form) answer any questions and then 5-10 minutes from our guest speaker. The majority of the meeting will be giveaways and door prizes.

Realistically after you check in and get your Captain's Bag you could leave but we have a lot of great prizes to give away that you must be present to win.

I am leaving the office to pickup the last few prizes and get things ready. If there are any questions please feel free to call the number on the entry form and leave a message, I will be checking voice mail as they come in.

See you all tonight!

We had to come in early and couldn't make it to the weigh in or after party. Are the results posted anywhere?
