Bragging rights tournament 11/6 - 11/7/2010

I have an idea and wanted some input. We originally planned to fish the BFH fall striped bass tournament. Unfortunatley, the official tournament is cancelled but I already have a crew ready to go for that weekend.

Is anyone interested in having some sort simple no-fee local tournament November 6th and 7th? Just weigh in your biggest bass for the day at one of our sponsors and see who wins? I am just throwing it out there, not sure of the details. I'm hoping some guys that do not normally fish money tournaments join in a friendly competition.

I realize there are many details that are missing, but I thought you guys may have some ideas. Please share your thoughts

My crew will be fishing Billy Boy 4 mile tavern tournament. So as long as you would recognize the weights from that then I am in.

Guys could fish that tourny and just have a seperate BFH brown bag. We have done that for tournys before with good success.

Scott - I'm interested, I might not get to fish both days but I liked the format last year, gives you a little "pressure" on weigh in day!

Sounds fine to me. If we catch a trophy size fish we'll be going to Lacey Marine for a weight-in slip as they are probably the closest to my boat. Whatever is closest to you works for me.

I must admit I have not spent much time at bars these days, however I am concerned about how exactly they weigh fish. I guess they have a balance beam and base your fish's weight against six packs of beer? (kidding)

I know many guys work at least one day of the weekend, that's why I figured Saturday and Sunday. Maybe we should add Friday the 5th for those in the retail industry? Let me know your thoughts.

Remember this is not MY tournament, just an idea to keep things a little more exciting. My goal is to to keep the tournament for local guys that are regulars on the BFH. Nothing against guys from say Cape May or Sandy Hook but they often see a different class of fish than we do. For example I think we all agree that running to Montauk or the Cape May Rips would be nice, but it doesn't make sense for a small bragging rights tournament for a bunch of local guys.

If MR. Hooper is in, I'm in...adding Friday would be nice.

Scale is actually a digital scale with NJ weights and measures stamp of approval. Borrowed from a Tackle shop. You should get in the tourny. it is only 25 mins out rt 72.

If anyone wants to weigh the fish here, I can keep a ledger of all the fish weighed in.

Is there going to a time limit for weigh-ins for free tournament?

ya got city hands. Mr Hooper....

What do you guys think would be a fair time to close weigh-ins? You could always fish saturday, leave the fish on ice and weigh in on Sunday, but is there a good time you guys can think of? We always like to get a full day on the water when possible so for us the best would probably be around 6pm.

How do I sign up? I'm in; sounds like great fun to me!

I would agree to 6pm to close. Can someone put a format (guidelines not rules :D) together and we can vote it in by Thursday?

I'll start a new thread called 2010 STRIPER BRAGGING RIGHTS TOURNEY SIGNUP just put the name of your boat in that thread and we'll go off that. It's just for fun so as long as you sign up by friday night thats cool. I'll work on the guidelines tonight.

How about scale closes at 5 pm both days and do the weighing in a total of 2 fish for saturday and listing weights for saturday.

Then doing it the same thing for sunday.

If you do the tournament both days there will be a listing for the total of both days.

So if you could only do the tournament for one day you still can win the bragging rights for that day .

If you do it both days you can try to win the grand bragging rights for the weekend.

Thats just my opinion

I'm in and like the Friday idea...

I think we should keep it simple.
1. Two heavyist fish for the two days wins
2. Only two fish per day weighed in.

Example:
Day one you catch 3 fish, you can only weigh in 2
Same for day two

Take the two heaviest fish no matter what day to come up with a winner.

Just my idea.
