BFH #4 - IN MEMORY OF CAROL EVANS - 10/12/07 10:07 AM

As most of you know, bfh has a active campaign to collect money for the purpose of donating to the NJ ARTICFICIAL REEF Program.
We currently have 3 reefs.
Each year we try to add another one. Presently we have $1128 accumulated for our next donation.
I am not sure what it will cost, but I like to set our goal to SINKING one of the future subway cars!!

I have consulted with several of our long standing members. All agree.
Our next reef we be BFH #4 IN MEMORY OF CAROL EVANS, Jeff and Eric's Mother.

If you want to donate, send your donation to:
bfh, Reef Program
Barnegat Fishin' Hole
PO Box 66
Garwood NJ 07027-0066

Or come to the Captain's Meeting Friday at 6PM or Cappy's on Sunday. There will be a jug available.

By the way, the reel was won by none other than Team C-Witch's -

Re: BFH #4 - IN MEMORY OF CAROL EVANS - 10/15/07 01:18 PM

I just had a conversation with FREEDOM.
He will be donating a substantial portion of his winnings to the Reef Fund.
Thanks Joe.

If my weakfish holds up in the money on the annual tournament, those fund will go to the Reef Fund.

Keep your eye on the Reef Fund report on the portal Page. I will update it as $$$ come in.

If you send a check and don't want public recognition for it please mark it as an anonymous donation. I will then only put you on the list going to Jeff.

WE WANT A SUBWAY CAR.

Re: BFH #4 - IN MEMORY OF CAROL EVANS - 10/15/07 04:48 PM

With the sponsor we have - you never know.
I would be harder now because there won't be a get-together probably until Jan/Feb when the Annual Tournament Awards will be given out.

I'm not sure either. But if I get a reel we'll figure out a way to do the raffle.

Re: BFH #4 - IN MEMORY OF CAROL EVANS - 10/15/07 11:08 PM

Is that even possible and how much would it cost per car? It is an awesome idea!

Re: BFH #4 - IN MEMORY OF CAROL EVANS - 10/16/07 12:50 AM

Its a matter of logistics. I don't believe they will drop a single car on the reef. They are usually deployed in groups. After speaking with Mr. Carbery (director of the reef program); my understanding was the sites have been selected and I don't think Barnegat was one of them. There are several newer reefs south of us that need more structure. It can be arranged to have a piece of structure already on the site named for Jeff's mom. We have done that in the past with bfh.

Re: BFH #4 - IN MEMORY OF CAROL EVANS - 10/16/07 08:32 AM

Not sure how much but it's a goal to reach for.
As a site we have donated over $3,000 to the Reef fund in 2 years. We have a Reef Ball and 6 tanks that will have BFH on them in the Reef Book.

I'm doing more bookkeeping for the tournament year and I discovered that I never post the Reef Fund portion of the Annual Tournament. That puts another $125 in the fund.
ANd the raffle for the Spring Bass, Shark and Fluke tournaments are now posted. That's another $228.
I still have Tournament Expense funds to go over.

Re: BFH #4 - IN MEMORY OF CAROL EVANS - 11/14/07 11:37 PM

i would like to thank all that have donated to the reef fund. i know it might not be possible to get a railcar. i think my mother would be honored to have one. she rode two trains into and out of philadelphia every day. she would find it funny to have a railcar and her two sons couldn't catch a :xxx: thing off of.

Re: BFH #4 - IN MEMORY OF CAROL EVANS - 11/29/07 02:55 PM

All monies have been allocated from all events held tis year.
The total amount raised for the Reef Fund is now at $3100.
I'm trying to find out tehe donation required to sink a Subway Car. I tend to think $3100 is not going to do it.
When I find out I'll let you know and I'll see what the alternative choices are.

Thanks to all who donated.

Post what the needs will be for the car Larry. I have a lot of Karma built up that needs to be passed around.

Re: BFH #4 - IN MEMORY OF CAROL EVANS - 11/30/07 05:59 PM

I have a humble suggestion....although I don't know how practical it would be. Maybe we could look into doing a cash raffle.

My hunting club usually does a fund raising cash raffle every year, and we usually make out pretty good.

We sell tickets for $10 a piece. First prize is $1000, second prize is $500, third prize is $250, fourth prize is $150, fifth prize is $100.

Usually, 20 guys unload 20 tickets without a problem. If you do the math, you can see that it's a pretty quick way to make a couple grand.

It might help get the subway car.

Re: BFH #4 - IN MEMORY OF CAROL EVANS - 11/30/07 06:35 PM

First I have to find out how much it will be.
All I know so far is that none of them will go to Barnegat Lighthouse Reef. It's to shallow.
The closest will probably be The Alex Carlson or GSN. The first batch scheduled are already behind schedule.
As soon as I know what he deal is, I'll talk to Jeff about hwhat his choices are and then make an announcement here.

Re: BFH #4 - IN MEMORY OF CAROL EVANS - 02/26/08 10:05 AM

I've recently been in touch with the NJ Reef People.
Things are moving slowly with the Reef Project.
They are very busy with the ship that is coming, I believe it is a Destoryer, and forumalting plans for other items to be sunk.
I was asked to hold the donation until they contact me. Hopefully this will happen in a few weeks.
