Need your input - 03/18/07 03:51 PM

As some or all of you know, I currently work part-time at The Dock Outfitters in Seaside Heights. This season I will be making the big step and will be working there full-time taking my mid-life crisis to a new level. We are currently looking to expand our rod selections by including another brand in the mid-high end level for boat fishing. You can check our website(listed at bottom) for our current inventory and products. Currently we carry Lamiglas, Star and Tica rods, among others but would like to expand our line to other brands. Due to franchise restrictions Loomis and St. Croix are not available and I would like to get some input from the fisherman here on their preferences for boat rods. We carry products for bay, surf, inshore and offshore fishing, and this season we will carry a full line of equipment for kayak fishing as well. Anything we don't have in stock we can get for you at VERY competitive prices, just drop me an e-mail...

I also would appreciate any local reports and info on your fishing trips as I write reports for the Asbury Park Press and the Fisherman as well as our own website. Any input you can provide would be greatly appreciated....... Thanks again, John(ReefRat)

We do carry Shimano reels including Stratic, Sustain and Calcutta among others. Can you be more specific on the series of rods that you prefer?...John

CAPE FEAR

I have an ADV175-70C.. I have used it for Stripers,, Fluke,, Blues and Ling.
I use it with 30-pound Power Pro and when you drop your sinker down 200 feet you can feel it hit the bottom then you can feel it lay down.
I wanted that particular rod and unfortunately the only place that carried it was a shop in Hazlet (I think) on RT.36. They are not very business savvy. Once they have your money they tell you they don’t want to help you.

So if you pick up CAPE FEAR you will handle one of the top end rods and I know that you folks are TOP SHELF people.

I have an AVET reel on it.

Good Luck and keep up the good work at the store.

and we thought that you used a snoopy pole Joe! all kidding aside all the above rods are good top shelf stuff, just be sure to carry a decent entry level/kick around type rod for the person new to the sport or for the person who doesnt want(his friends) touching his good stuff!
