Underway at 0630 I ran the ICW south of Harvey cedars found clean water -no bait no birds and no bumps-- ran back north stopped at the whalebone and had a great time with the alligators in 2-4'of water-- tackle busters they ate my poppers- cut through wire leaders -- but to see 7-10 blues hit a surface lure on 10lb tackle was worth it all CATCHEMUP

Re: 5/15 - 05/16/09 04:58 PM

I have been told that Whalebone is called that because a boat named Whalebone cut out an area of deeper water in the shallows when it ran too shallow. It used to be almost 6-8' deep in spots.

I do not think you can find it on any chart. I will leave it at that............

I love those old charts. It is really interesting to see how much has changed. And yes, the whalebone is usually productive.
