Any luck finding the 5 LB boxes of smelts or spearing?

Smelts yes, still working on spearing...

Is there arother spearing shortage like last year brewing?

No, the 5 lb boxes are more economical. They come with 2 2 1/2 lb blocks inside. I soak one in water, peel off the outer layer and keep the rest frozen. They last longer and there isn't as much waste.

No need to tell me about more economical...we went through 430 lbs. of spearing last year. I usually by the 2.5 lb blocks by the case. Just got concerned when I saw he could not get them. Last year this time a lot of shops were out for the rest of the season for some odd reason.

430 lbs! That's quite a habit. You might be better off with drugs.

Whatever comes in the case. Wasn't it like 16 blocks, 4 rows of 4? No smelts just yet, later in the summer. I'll let you know.
