OK - It's not sports center but it's the next best thing. Tune in to ESPN radio - 97.3 FM or http://www.973espn.com for a featured segment on garbagefish.com and the 2nd annual garbagefish trash tournament. Tom Pagliaroli, host of the Rack and Fin show, will be featuring us on the show to discuss the site and the upcoming garbage fish tournament. This, along with many of the other media outlets who are stepping up to help with the garbage push, should get some more excitement generated.
If you haven't caught Tom's show - it's a must. It runs from 9-10am on Sat. mornings and is a great excuse to hide from your family and pretend you are doing something important in the garage.

i'm not sure what espn it is. so many espn's. it's 97.3 here in south jersey - but I lose that up north. 1040 am might work too. but you can listen to it on 973espn.com It was pretty funny and Tom Pags (the host) is coming to the fish fry. Get here early, my man says he likes to eat.
Whoever made this site an idea is hilarious, you made my day. the girl in the bikini on the site didnt hurt either....keep up the good work, i am a fan.

That was great...thanks for sharing. I believe we should actually kill one skate for every fluke that we keep. Do that for two years and then check the stocks again.

Eric,
I can't tell anyone what to do - but our message is to just give 'em a try. It's high end stuff in Europe and making it's way here. It's just a pain in the arse to clean. It's not the skates fault that there are so many of them. We all throw them back. If killing them just to kill them is a way to manage the fisheries, I don't know where I stand on that. Obviously if you keep it to eat it you are killing it. But, with fluke and weakfish and all the other regs being what they are - we are trying to convince people it's a fishery. Had fresh skate this weekend - awesome. Check it out. You can't taste it through the screen but it was good. http://www.garbagefish.com/images/pics/skatewingbasic.jpg
Get in on the tourny and come to the garbage fish fry, you'll see. It also help'a to keep a da yang up, say dr. poo.
if you haven't caught a skate, you should hope it stays that way! Once when I was in france on business we went to a gourmet restaurant that had a sea robin on the cover of its menu and searved spearing fried in a platter!
I loved the dogfish and sea robin. They sell the skate wings fresh at the Asain market near me. If i dont catch one soon, ill just have to wait for the fish fry
