I am looking for a versital off shore rig. I want to be able to use the same set up for stripers, tuna and whatever else I might be able to catch. I am leaning towards a Shimano TLD 25, but I realy don't know how heavy a rod I should get. There are some combos that I have found that are either 30-50 lb rods or 50-80lb rods. What would be the best for an allaround set up? Thanks for the help.

Justin

Cant go wrong with the tld, reel matched to a rod rated for 30-50 lb line, good for fish up to a couple hundred pounds, nice cheap setup, i back them with 65lb braid and a hundred foot topshot of mono....gives a lot more line cap when trolling offshore...just go easy on drag, have been known to bust off reel seat at high drag settings on strike.

With the tld always oil them up good after each trip.If you don'tthe drag tendes to stick or at least mine does. That said very good reel for the price.
