Just back from Ocean City MD, we arrived on June 25th and of course the red hot June bite was slowing down.I did not have reliable internet service in OC MD ,I was able to post a few FB pics while we were there. We did get out on 15 trips fished from the Baltimore to the Washington canyons and inshore as well. We started out OK managing a few Tuna and some Mahi on each or our earlier trips, then it did get tough, we struggled for our daytime bites, the water temp was 79 degrees outside the inlet and 80.5 at the canyons all pretty water flying fish 8 miles off the beach, no real temp or color changes to work. We did have a few great days we chunked 20+ smaller Yellowfin 37 miles off the beach in 114’ of water, went back the next day and had bluefish and skippies. We also chunked some nice size yellowfin in the whales and had a 65lb Wahoo along with some White and Blue Marlin. The water was pretty much the same everywhere and became more Marlin water than Tuna water. We did not fish in the dark for Big Eyes we were on a day trip schedule. All in all it was one of the slowest years for us in the last 23 yrs of going there, not horrible just enough to keep you interested. We are back in town pulled the boat and making a few preventative repairs Bret and I plan to start up the third week of August.
