Thanks Alot Mike. A good buddy Bill Heath has devised the system - he runs a machine shop and has installed the system on a growing number of charter/private boats from NJ out to Montauk and Orient point. All hauling of the anchors is done from the cockpit. I can provide additional information/photos if anyone is interested.

Wow guys!! Thanks a million!! Power... yeah that was a tough choice. Thing is with these smaller size downeasters, there is limited space below decks. So if you want your engine below deck with out an "engine box" like I did, you have to first see what will make it under there. So its not a question of which engine do I like best, it is which engine do I like best that will fit under the deck. My builder loved the Yanmar 440. The other choices were the Volvo D6-435 and the Cummins B Series. I went with the Volvo. Jim, regarding the hydro powered hauler, if I were a canyon bottom guy I definitely would have gone with the hydro. But 95% of my fishing is inshore (inside of 50 miles) so I opted for the electric hydro slave hauler-had the same set up on my last boat and she worked like a charm. I am not sure if this would be allowed on this site - but i have a thread documenting the building of this boat with all of the details posted on another site. If it is cool to post the link let me know and I will gladly oblige. If not, just let me know. Again, thanks guys for the kind words

Thanks Guys!!! I had inquired (see above) about posting up a site where I have the entire build posted. Well no one said no so far, so if you would like to check the whole building process out take a look here: ***EDITED*** Look under Boats/Boating/Electronics forum there - "Building an RP 31" Hope you all enjoy.

Hi Woody, Thank you for your concern, SE Newman and Sons is doing the finishing for me and they are 2 hours north of RP 's shop in Steuben Maine. So that didnt affect me. A crying shame for RP to lose the molds - at least no one was injured in the explosion and fire.
