Description
These are of a ship repairing a submerged cable off Sea Girt. The ship and its support vessels will be working the area for the next week or so. If you are in the are they ask for a 1 nautical mile berth and if they are within 1 nautical mile of the beach (which they said they should be the whole time) they ask that you pass 1 nautical mile offshore of them.

There has been alot of confusion regarding this vessel and what its purpose is, thanks for clearing it up.

Thanks for the heads up. I know that if I saw that ship out there I might want to get a closer look. Now I won't. Good info.

Joe, I worked on the AT&T cable ship when repairing was being done....Most of the time the clammers dig up the fiber optic cable that is buried beneath the sea...Sometimes they are buried from 3 to 5 feet depending on the bottom...Once they reach the shelf then they just lay the cable on the bottom...Which sometimes the sharks bite it....The cable goes to France,Germany and England...When the clammers grab this cable with their dredge and bring it up they like to SH-T...It's an big fine if they get caught....If the cable breaks it sets of an Alarm in the overseas cable office(State Side)...Then they send a helicopter out in the area that the break occurs to try and catch the culprit.......Every chart has the cables marked with with lines on it....The clammers are suppose to stay away...But guess what if everyone stays away then there will be more clams in that area...That's why they take the chance....I said enough....

Interesting, thanks for the info. There have been draggers in that area over the last month...guess that's why it is being reparied.
