Description
Three of my kayak buddies and I fished at CBBT/Lynnhaven over the weekend. We camped at First Landing State Park in Lynnhaven/Virgina Beach. We left Friday morning and met up on the bridge around noon. We hit Ocean's East and set up camp. We knew with the weather we only had Friday evening to fish the CBBT because the weekend weather was shot. We launched around 4pm for blackfish and bull reds. The second piling I dropped at I had a huge hit and ten minutes later after an awesome fight I had a 30lb black drum in the boat. Other than that one fish and small seabass we called it at day around 8pm or so.

Saturday and Sunday we fished Lynnhaven Bay for specks, spot and croakers. Saturday, I caught close to 50 specks, tons fo spot, and even some blowfish. The specks loved a S&S Big Eye with the Got Stryper tails and about half came on teasers I had tied up.

Sunday we planned to hit the concrete ships but with the strong wind we fishing Lynnhaven again. Three of us headed to a different spot we got some intel on and my buddy Chris stayed at the speck spot. Half hour later he is screaming on the radio to get over by him. Had had lost a nice red and landed one as we pedaled up. They were finning on a oyster bed in 2' of water. After a few casts I finally hooked up. She came right to the boat and then took off and snapped the line right at the dropper loop. It was about a 30" fish and they are strong as :xxx:. I have caught bass, fluke, and blues all on the same rigs and the dropper has never failed. Chris' lost fish had the same thing happen. I guess when you have strong fish in 2' of water they have no where to go. Chris landed another one around 27" and they seemed to disappear. A few more specks and spot and we headed back home.

Can't wait to get down there again. We are headed to Kipto in Dec to fish the ships for bass.

nice fish I have had that happen as well with droppers and never used them again, even properly wet I still believe it burns itself more than your average knot

Awesome video. Ive always wanted to fish the bridge. My buddy has a house in Willis Wharf, just east of Exmore. There's an excellent ramp there on Parting Creek/Matchopongo River. Ive caught many specs there. He's done well with black drum and reds also. Very secluded area. Most boats you see are clammers. Refreshing change from the crowds we see around here. Im headed down there in a couple weeks for the weekend. Theres a decent bait/tackle shop in Exmore on business 13 before you get to the willis wharf cut off.if you do go to the area stop and have breakfast or lunch at the Exmore Diner also on business 13. Real old school good stuff.

Thanks guys, that area is awesome and there are fish everywhere. Everyone is very considerate as well and we had guys moving because they anchored and drifted to close to us. Hopefully the next video will be a bass on the jig out front!

Congrats on the trip Dan! That is one of my favorite places to fish. I rent a place in Lynnhaven from 11/15-1/15 every year and you're more than welcome to crash if you're in the area.
We fish the whole area from Kipto to Henry and out to the Norfolk during the winter. If you're down there within the next couple of weeks check out the cabbage patch area, no toll to pay and a good pull of fish.
