I am going to google it.. Have heard the they are not good eating, I like to use them chunking. Then again most people hate eating blues, I personally don't mind them.

Bluefish is a delicacy compared to False Albacore.

They are inedible.

Thanks, I'll use them as originally planned. Chunking for gator blues...
I don't think anyone has said otherwise, lol.

The best old false albie recipe from daze of old...

Fillet the albie and nail it to a piece of wood and leave in the sun for a week.

After weeks end, remove fish, throw it away and eat the wood!

Enjoy! smile

Ok, I am going against general opinion...of everybody lol. Bleed and put albies on ice. Cut all dark meat off of them ... which is most of them. Poach in water and turn into tuna salad with as much Saracha and mayo as you can handle.

I know I'm late to the party here but when I vacation down in the keys the charter captains won't throw an albie back until we have a few of them at least. Offshore the mate is making them into fresh strip baits for trolling or chunking them up if we're drifting. Inshore they throw them in the box for later for going after sharks on the flats. I can say from personal experience that mahi like albie chunks.

I saved a bunch of bags cut into chunks to use in the future.
