Description
Saw this guy High and Dry, literally, Friday afternoon on the bar bewtween the cut through and the No-Wake zone.

And I though I was having a bad day 'cause I came home without any Stripers.

He only had to wait 6 hours for the tide to come back

Funny you mentioned the shovel. Jeff got there around the time of the picture and decided to wait for the Higher tide to do anything. Being nice, Jeff took him over to Bobbies Boats where he wanted to buy a shovel. He did, and it was a plastic one that your kids would use to play in the sandbox. Not kidding. I went back a few hours later and pulled him off. The shovel was mysteriously missing.

That is great. Looks like he started to dig...shovel is present in the picture with a small mound next to it. Guess he finally realized there is no way to dig himslef out of that one.

Was it really that he missed the cut, or did he anchor, fall asleep, and miss the tide? I could totally see that happening with this beautiful weather we're having. An afternoon nap is wonderful thing....

I agree with tony m, its not like he ran hard aground like that moron last year that put his sport fisher on the bank. I have let my boat, go high and dry at party island if i know im going to be there all day with the wife and kid, that way its not rocking and beating the :xxx: out of me everytime a boat passes.

He ran it to that point somewhere around 6am. He tried in vane to power himself off while there was still some water there. He then decided to call us when the seagulls were walking over to his boat looking for a handout.(No Joke) Before taking him to the island he was actually trying to dig out the boat with a 5 gallon bucket (Again no joke). I advised him that won't work. So he decided to get a shovel... I am thinking hardware store shovel but apparently he was thinking sandcastle shovel. Again guys we can't make this stuff up.

He never anchored. The anchor is still in the pulpit. It's a line coming from his stbd cleat. Why? I have no idea.

Long rod on starboard side was actually the handle from a boat hook that he propped against the hull to keep it from falling on his head while bucketing out sand from underneath that area of the boat.

Speaking of no-wake zone....when are they putting the no wake cans back in the inlet by Myers. Came through yesterday afternoon after getting skunked and some of us were going now wake but plenty of idiots were barreling through there tossing me around like tomatoes in a salad.

RFDEVIL, Yes that's a shovel in the pic. Sorry for the confusion. When I arrived the shovel was still there but he had a line on that cleat and it dangled down to the sand. I didn't bother to ask what he used that for. No, He was not a member of Sea Tow.

I hav one of those shovels, built a mighty fine sand castle with it! Looks like he is still waiting for the fish with that pole hanging off the back.

I guess the rope was to keep the boat from floating away as he was digging it out with the sandcastle shovel. Seems logical, based on everything else we know.

I bet he had it tied to the kill switch so he could kill the engine (that is not running or trimmed down) before the boat has a chance to speed off without him when the tide comes in! waver

Haha! Good one Jersey Joe!

Is this guy on the north or south side of the cut? Trying to picture how he managed this. That cut is fairly wide and gives you a lot of margin for error.

There was another grounding today in the same area. This one was to the north of the cut. Two guys in shin deep water trying to push off a 23-24' cuddy with the IO in the sand. A fast falling tide to boot!
