John, The Trilux is correct and you would need a primer. Interlux Primocon is the primer you need. It self etches to the metal and chemically bonds the paint to the primer and hull. Make sure the boat does not leak before you paint it. If you have leaks you can coat the boat with Gluvit and it will totally water proof it.
